Holden uses these large scale works to present an often challenging, unique observation of what shapes the world around us, whether it be major world events, political issues or everyday life. By using colour photographic imagery in slick, perfectly formed circular repetition, referred to as mandala format, the artists satirical tone is apparent through carefully chosen iconography to give a fresh perspective on what we might take for granted.

Working in this way gives the everyday imagery Holden uses, which is often taken from the media, a spiritual almost transcendental quality.

Finding this method of working incredibly versatile, Holden believes that it allows him to treat themes both big and small with great impact.

From a distance the works appear as visually stunning mosaics of pattern and colour, but as a closer look
is taken, the striking message is revealed.
